Yeah you're right :) It's too bad I couldn't find anything free that would work, macos setting is not perfect for handling proxies many apps fail to use the proxy including the terminal

@SteveMoretz you are perfectly right, that's why I was rather vague in my answer and mentioned the for-pay apps which work out of the box. But it looks like those offering cheap, and wrong, solutions got all the votes...
