If SFC /SCANNOW doesn't work, try running it with the computer in SAFE MODE. SeeMake sure that the PendingDeletes and PendingRenames folders exist under %WinDir%\WinSxS\Temp and that they are empty. If not, delete the contents and run SFC /SCANNOW again. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 for more info.
