Aug 28, 2014 at 23:30 comment added countermode I also installed the commercial VMware tools. No effect. Not even with all the suggested stunts. Right now, the only ideas that I am left with are: (a) disable Grsecurity for the kernel build, (b) use a plain kernel without Grsecurity at all, (c) install a guest from scratch. ~ Anyway, thank you for spending your time to help me.

Aug 28, 2014 at 17:04 comment added jjk_charles Try to disable and then enable Drag&Drop options for Guest Isolation mode, save a snapshot. Then, restart VMWare and reload the snapshot.

Aug 28, 2014 at 16:05 comment added jjk_charles Did u ever save a snapshot of the guest OS before?

Aug 26, 2014 at 13:59 comment added countermode Ok, I'll try that, but I believe that there's something deeper here...
Aug 26, 2014 at 13:41 comment added jjk_charles Have you also tried reinstalling VMWare Tools or Open-vm-tools? I'm guessing you would have, but just wanted to confirm.
Aug 26, 2014 at 9:21 comment added countermode I just tried that out, as well as other suggestions from the VMware community forum. No effect :-(
