Get your own WiFi router with a USB port, plugin any USB HDD to the router. Now all the devices connected to the WiFi router will see the USB HDD. You can also later connect your router to internal network at home so you can have internet.– ek9Commented Jun 7, 2014 at 10:34

Thanks edvinas .. i didn't know Routers have USB port that i can connect to HDD. I am now wondering about connecting home router to the new router (if i have bought one). I can't move the home router from living room to my room and I don't want to put my external hard drive in the living room. Can I do something like the new router, old router, HDD all connect to my desktop and create some sort of own WIFI network there. All my other devices can connect to my own WIFI network and they have internet access as well as access to HDD? If yes, can you guide me roughly how it can be done? Thanks.– LaurenceCommented Jun 7, 2014 at 10:48

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. windows-7), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
