Thanks! Only one question though - how important is to set APs to different channels? When I was setting up a AP as repeater before I was told it should have both the same SSID and channel as the other one. This time I don't want them to overlap, right?– kenderCommented Jan 12, 2014 at 7:30

It is not mandatory, but it's good practice. Each time the wifi radio needs to send data, it listens to check if someone else is transmitting in its channel. If someone else is transmitting on the channel, the wifi radio will have to wait. So, this practice is efficient usage of transmission medium and enhance overall data throughput.– aseaudiCommented Jan 12, 2014 at 9:52

@kender can the same mac address be used for all access points? (is that according to the proposal, the PCs would see several access points with the same SSID)– acgboxCommented May 29, 2019 at 22:02

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. windows-7), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
