I have attempted to set permissions to 'Everyone', however this still would not allow the files to be opened. I'm not sure about changing the file system, but if there's no other way, then I will.

Was that on everything or just the files in question ?

I originally tried on everything, but when that didn't work, I tried files individually. That didn't work either.

I'd go with the exFAT option then.
