What have you tried to fix it? What resources did you look up online that didn't work?– user3463Commented Nov 20, 2013 at 18:41

I tried rebooting, rebuilding the index. Also, search on an external device (hard drive or usb key) WORKS, but on my internal SSD it doesnt– RayjaxCommented Nov 22, 2013 at 10:27

Have you checked that your drive is in good condition with a CHKDSK?– user3463Commented Nov 23, 2013 at 0:02

Today I opened a folder full of files. I wanted to find files with the word 'restore' in the file name. I typed 'restore' in the search box and nothing came up. I then looked through the files and found one called 'Restore Database.sql'. I've googled around but my solution ended up being to turn off the Windows Search service (indexing). Searching now is slower, but at least it can handle simple searches like the one I described here!– BaodadCommented Mar 6, 2014 at 17:04

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. windows-7), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
