8Patchy as hell, but best solution so far. Thanks!– DigCommented Sep 21, 2012 at 10:57

4Disabling narrator.exe can be achieved much simpler by just renaming the file. Also, it will need to be redone every time it is updated by Windows Update.– harrymcCommented Nov 26, 2012 at 16:03

5Indeed patchy as hell but definitely necessary. It utterly defies belief that there's no way of disabling the narrator completely from the regular UI. That I've found so far, at least.– J. SteenCommented Feb 18, 2013 at 10:18

2see the comment on the other post about doing the same for AtBroker aswell - otherwise you'll get those processes spawning and hanging around when you windows + enter– JonnyRaaCommented Oct 15, 2014 at 10:25

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. windows-7), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
