What exactly did you do when reinstalling? It's typical for the Windows OS installer (among others) to completely wipe the HDD unless you specify otherwise.– BobCommented May 27, 2012 at 9:38

I installed it over the previous windows installation partition. Everything went exactly as expected, and the Windows 7 partition is in the same place, same size, etc. Only my logical partition is now inexplicably unallocated space :<– MalaCommented May 27, 2012 at 9:45
