  • Thinking about it, desktop drive class should be ok for RAID 1. since it's a mirror. There is no parity.

  • @Matt If it kicks a drive out of the array, it can no longer guarantee that drive is an exact copy of the one still in the array, so it will still have to rebuild. Commented Jul 28, 2011 at 14:03
