This is quite likely a bandwidth issue still. Check that the thunderbolt cable is actually the right one, and supporting that bandwidth too. 8K is a really large area, and HDMI and DP uses different connection methods thus DP works slightly better.– LPChipCommented Mar 5 at 9:08
