1Sounds like somehow the latency when used with USB causes audio interference. I would try to hook up the device using a different usb port and reinstall the drivers. You can also try setting the power management to High-Performance– LPChipCommented Jun 12, 2020 at 11:21

1One other thing that I can think of is a faulty USB cable. Can you replace the USB cable to test if that is the case?– LPChipCommented Jun 12, 2020 at 12:45

1different drivers could make the ubuntu either filter out the cracks or make them very soft so you don't really hear them that were generated by a faulty cable– LPChipCommented Jun 12, 2020 at 13:17

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. windows-7), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
