  • In other words the subvolume mounted as / was also available as /.snapshots/1/snapshot/. Removing the content of the latter was in practice like rm -rf --no-preserve-root /. Without using --no-preserve-root! Nice horror story. +1. Commented Aug 22, 2019 at 12:01
  • Still I don't know whether mounting that snapshot #1 as / was a mistake (made by the system installer or systemd's magic) or not.
