2doesn't work. It never gives any prompt to accept the change– Farrukh WaheedCommented Jul 2, 2019 at 3:06

1didn't work for me. It already selected "Disconnect this display".– MewXCommented Jan 10, 2021 at 12:22

This worked for me. The key is that those monitors will not disappear from the Display settings diagram, but they will become grey (number will grey out) and when number is grey that also means that this display is "not used" by windows. Try moving a window of some app with "Win+Right". First window will move to right edge of current screen, but if you press key again it will move it to the next screen. The normal behaviour (eg. when you have just 1 screen) is for window as it is moved to "wrap around" and appear on the left edge of same screen. This way you can check if for ghost screens– Dimitry KCommented Jun 8, 2021 at 16:51

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. windows-7), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
