The ApplicationCompany comes from the exe's version resource. If you're building the app you can fix this yourself, or you can change a third-party exe with a resource editor, though this won't work if it is signed. Anyway, many thanks, I spent hours trying to figure out why my app didn't appear to have registered properly and this was the answer.
