I have connected and initialized a new 3Tb HDD via USB 3.0, moved my data from two old 1Tb HDDs into it. Now I removed old HDDs, connected a new one via SATA and... PC detects is as 2Tb unitialized partition + 1Tb unallocated space, detects no data on it unless I plug it back via USB... I'm in a trap now, is that the case you are talking here about? What am I supposed to do I wonder...– fires3as0nCommented May 18, 2021 at 15:29

Yes, it sounds exactly like the described case. You will have to copy your data by connecting the external controller with the 3TB drive to a already working storage/PC. Copy your data there temporary, install the 3TB drive, install everything you need and then use a 1TB drive to move the data back.– OvermindCommented May 31, 2021 at 10:13

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. windows-7), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
