Apr 26, 2016 at 18:23 comment added Burgi This might sound crazy but perhaps the EMF spike from when you turn off the lamp is causing an induction current in the keyboard that matches the signal the power button makes. Replacing the keyboard or moving the lamp are the only solutions I can think of for this.
Apr 25, 2016 at 7:09 comment added Alexander @Burgi Yes it does. [Power] [Sleep] [Wake Up].
Apr 24, 2016 at 23:18 comment added Burgi does the keyboard have extra power buttons to sleep/suspend the PC?

Apr 18, 2016 at 21:45 comment added Alexander I have found that the issue only occurs while the keyboard is attached to the computer. If I unplug the keyboard, the issue does not occur. If I plug it in again, it still doesn't occur until Windows has booted and shut down again. I found that "Keyboard can wake computer" is disabled in BIOS, and I have disabled "Device can wake computer" for the keyboard in devmgmt.msc. I will have to try whether a different keyboard solves the issue.
Apr 18, 2016 at 15:33 comment added iSR5 a small transformer could give between 10-16 voltage, which is enough to power up most of the computer hardware. if so, then your problem is an electronic circuit issue, and it seems this is a circuit loss that could give an electric shock to the wall circuit, which will rest the circuit switches to turn into the opposite to any plugged device in the same circuit, whatever switch is on it will be off and whatever is off will be on. Thus, the PSU will detect it as a reset switch and it will wake up the computer. So, you need to check the transformer, or replace it if possible.

Apr 18, 2016 at 14:57 comment added Alexander @arana The TV has a remote control, but the computer doesn't. The TV would then have to wake the PC via HDMI, but I have not found such a button on the remote. To my knowledge, no blutooth, NFC or WiFi device is connected to the PC. I have disconnected Ethernet but the problem is still reproducible.

Apr 18, 2016 at 14:53 comment added arana does your computer have a remote control to turn it on/off? , I ask this because i had a similar issue with MY TV and the light switch, it turned on or changed channel whenever I flipped the switch, I couldnt do anything until I replaced the switch, somehow it was interfering with the remote control signal, go figure.

Apr 15, 2016 at 20:18 comment added Alexander @DavidPostill Yes. It seems as if Windows does not switch the computer off in the same way that a pressed power button does during bootup.
Apr 15, 2016 at 20:12 comment added DavidPostill "The computer stays off until I hit the power button again." It stays off even if you the switch the lap on and off again?
