This 20th-anniversary edition of Beyond Good & Evil dodges that trap by being genuinely entertaining, playable and polished over its relatively short running time. Maybe it’s the banter between Jade and Pey’j, perhaps it’s the restless diversity of its levels, or could it be just that Ancel packed his designs with myriad lovely touches.
Beyond Good & Evil is an absolute classic, and the 20th Anniversary Edition makes it easier than ever to appreciate why. The characters are endearing, the visuals are mostly amazing, the music is incredible, and the gameplay is a ton of fun on top of all that. If this is your first time stepping into Jade’s sneakers or your 20th, now has never been a better time to explore the beauty of Hillys.
A classic from my childhood, delivering a great story in a beautiful world full of character. Its story driven linear pacing is a breath of fresh air compared to some of today's open worlds : every facet of this game is intentional, none can be considered filler. The world is coherent and beautifully crafted, music and ambiance are very well made, leading to a great 10 to 15 hours of gameplay until the story's resolution.
Beyond Good & Evil remaster truly shows how much potential this franchise has, and doubles down on the need for Ubisoft to give the series the credit it deserves finally.
Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is a real treat regardless of whether you’ve played the original release or not. The 2003 game’s visuals have received a gorgeous glow-up with improved textures, shadows, and lighting, and there’s a surprising amount of new content from unlockable cosmetics to an entirely new questline. This is simply one of the best remastering efforts we’ve seen in years and comes highly recommended at its sub-$20 / £20 price.
A bona fide classic remastered with love and care. This edition brings smooth visuals, a beautifully recreated musical score, and well-presented supplemental materials. It certainly shows its age, but like all great art, Beyond Good & Evil weathers the test of time with grace.
Beyond Good & Evil 20th Anniversary Edition is far from perfect, but it's an honest remaster. Yes, the game has aged, but its charm still works today. A game to discover and rediscover, despite the new version's even more striking flaws.
Beyond Good and Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition misses the opportunity to update dated mechanics and deliver a more satisfying experience for a new audience. It gives the impression of being a rushed launch, just to remember that the brand still exists in the Ubisoft catalog.
I have heard a lot of great things about thisngame and I must say, I m not dissapointed! The heart in this game, the unique amiance, misic and great characters, good story and dialogue. Even though inhabent played this back in the day, I must say that this is a really really sid and unique adventure game. Love the animations, atmosphere and just about everything about this game. It really has a heart and soul and it will either captureyours or will leave you with a game that might feel a bit too outdated if you are used to more fresh games. Forbme, the pacing, gameplay and just about everything is just arefreshing nostalgia trip, even though i didnt play it originally. Really glad it is remastered(done absolutely lovingly bytheway) and it is good that is can be experienced by people who missed it for a reason or another. Just getit, enjoy it and get ready for what might come.
The pricing is vers fair. It's the same game than 20 years ago, in HD. Nintendo would sell us the same game 4 time the price that Ubisoft is asking. GOOD PRICING UBISOFT!
The game is good. Ok, the camera is bad and the movement too. But it‘s an old game. One problem is Ubisoft Connect. You need to press triangle in combat etc. And sometimes Ubisoft Connect shows achievements there the triangle button is catched to open the fkng boring Ubisoft Connect overlay. And why additional achievements when PSN already have it? Why Ubisoft, why? You always annoy the customers. And you wonder for bad reviews?
