Netflix has revealed a first look at the cast and sets of Stranger Things season five.
Below is a behind-the-scenes video that includes shots of the Hawkins kids (are they still kids?) in character, as well as some of sets.
“I started when I was 10, I’m now turning 20 years old,” says star Millie Bobby Brown (Eleven). “Feels very weird.”
“It’s just so exciting, I think this is going to be the best season yet,” adds Noah Schnapp (Will Byers).
The Duffer Brothers noted that final season production is about halfway finished. Brown previously said filming is expected to wrap around Christmas. The season is expected to premiere sometime in 2025.
Maya Hawke recently told Podcrushed that the eight episodes in the final season of the sci-fi hit will feel like “eight movies,” and noted the episodes are “very long.”

James B. Sikking, known for his roles as Lt. Howard Hunter on “Hill Street Blues” and the titular character’s father on “Doogie Howser, M.D.,” has died. He was 90.
Sikking died Saturday of complications from dementia, his publicist Cynthia Synder said in a statement Sunday evening.
“In a remarkable career, Sikking’s wonderfully exciting face gave us drama, comedy, tragedy and hilarious farse,” Snyder shared with Variety. “His career spanned over six decades in television, film and on stage.”
Sikking was widely recognized for his portrayal of Howard Hunter on the police procedural series “Hill Street Blues,” which aired from 1981 to 1987 on NBC. He received an Emmy nomination in 1984 for his performance as the clean-cut, pipe-smoking lieutenant.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live” guest host Anthony Anderson opened Monday’s show with a joke about finding himself in the spotlight to comment on the assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump due to his previously planned guest-hosting stint on ABC’s late-night series.
“Everybody’s still shaken up by the tragic events at the Trump rally this Saturday,” Anderson said at the top of his monologue. “All weekend, I kept thinking, ‘I wonder what Jimmy Kimmel is going to say about this on Monday?’ And then I was like, oh, I am Jimmy Kimmel on Monday.”

Stephen Colbert kicked off Monday’s live edition of “The Late Show” with a pre-taped opener (shot around 7 p.m. Et) discussing the weekend assassination attempt on Donald Trump, before going live with his monologue, commenting on the first night of the Republican National Convention as previously planned.
“The United States came close to a great tragedy on Saturday, when at a political rally down in Pennsylvania, a 20-year-old gunman shot and nearly killed a former president and the man who today became the 2024 Republican nominee. Model and rapper Amber Rose spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wis., on Monday, where she voiced her support for former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
“I’m here tonight to tell you, no matter your political background, that the best chance we have to give our babies a better life is to elect Donald Trump president of the United States,” Rose said on stage.
“I’m no politician and I don’t wanna be, but I do care about the truth, and the truth is that the media has lied to us about Donald Trump,” the former reality TV star added.

Seth Meyers has words for Donald Trump’s new right-hand man.
After condemning the “horrifying” assassination attempt made against Trump on Saturday and elaborating that “political violence must be condemned in all its forms,” the “Late Night” host also took a moment to condemn how certain right-wing political voices have responded to attack.
He first called for “an inclusive politics of compassion, empathy and community” and encouraged viewers to have conversations about “the real work of democracy,” saying, “That’s what we need.”

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way Season 6 Episode 3.] Shekinah Garner’s arrival in Turkey has been anything but drama-free. In the July 15 episode of 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way, Shekinah and Sarper Güven continue to argue. Shekinah is still upset that Sarper has done nothing about his bottle shelf, which she believes is a reminder of all the women he’s slept with. “It feels disappointing and hurtful,” Shekinah says about the bottle shelf. She also comments on how Sarper’s place is “wrecked.” She adds, “It looks trash, and the bottles are still on the shelves. I don’t know why he’s holding on to them so tightly.” Shekinah gets annoyed that there’s nowhere for her to hang her clothes. Sarper asks Shekinah if she’s acting this way because of the bottle shelf. “I just feel like I came back and nothing’s changed,” she says.

Spelivia fans, rejoice! Spencer James (Daniel Ezra) and Olivia (Samantha Logan) tied the knot on the “All American” Season 6 finale, which aired on July 15, marking Ezra’s final episode as a series regular.
The episode, titled “I Do (Part II),” picked up where the penultimate left off — Spencer finding out that the wedding venue had been flooded and his wedding to Olivia wasn’t going to be available to happen. At first, Olivia began to spiral, questioning not only their future but their past, remembering so many hiccups along the way. (The CW always has loved a montage!)

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for the July 15 episode of Jeopardy!] Could there have been a new Jeopardy! champion if one of the new players of the July 15 game bet more on a Daily Double? Customer support team lead Isaac Hirsch from Burbank, California, came into the game an eight-day champion, with his winnings totaling $195,389. The two new contestants were drama club director Brenna Sniatecki from Rochester, New York, and non-profit program officer and actor James Hayakawa from Davis, California. And while Hirsch has had a few dominating performances, he didn’t have the easiest game. In fact, Hirsch was in second place at the first break of the Jeopardy! round, though by the end of it, he was in first, with $6,600. It was in Double Jeopardy! that things could have gotten interesting. Hirsch was incorrect upon finding the second Daily Double of the game, and then Sniatecki ...

In an era where audiences are peddled an onslaught of remakes, sequels, and requels, few attempts at adapting existing works really manage to stand out. That one of these precious few was immediately trashed by critics who didn’t understand it and mismanaged by a company that was too scared to court controversy, is a shame. That show, though you may not expect it, was none other than Paramount’s own “Heathers”, which aired in 2018.
The series, created by Jason Micallef, had the same basics as Daniel Waters and Michael Lehmann’s film of the same name, fixating on a group of students at Westerberg High School in Sherwood, Ohio, and the deeply messy politics and behavior that comes with that. It retained the main crew of three “mean-girls” Heathers, along with the blasé “good person” Veronica and her faux-tortured murderer love interest Jd.

The number of streaming services competing for eyeballs and subscription dollars seems to grow every day. The crowded marketplace ensures that every streamer needs to find its own differentiating factor. Some compete for live sports rights, others give out free greeting cards, but only one managed to hire John Stamos.
Zeam, a new free streaming startup backed by Gray Television that focuses on offering local news, weather, sports, and entertainment content from local TV stations in a single app, has announced that Stamos is not only their company’s official spokesperson (he was the star of the streamer’s Super Bowl ad), he’s also now been given a fancy new title: Chief Innovation Officer.
In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Stamos explained exactly what he’ll be doing with the company. It sounds like he’ll be taking founder Jack Perry to a whole lot of Hollywood parties.

Days after some fans missed the end of Jeopardy! for President Joe Biden‘s press conference, some missed out on part of an episode again, once again due to breaking news. At least in the Chicago area when Jeopardy! aired earlier in the day (rather than in the 7/6c hour) on July 15, a breaking news report interrupted part of the episode, viewers reported on social media. This comes as, during the Republican National Convention, Donald Trump announced that J.D. Vance will be his vice presidential running mate. “Not happy that the final minutes of jeopardy was interrupted by a special news report from RNC,” one person wrote on X (formerly Twitter) to the local ABC station’s account. “The VP had previously been announced in an earlier notice. I.e. it was Not news.” That’s a sentiment that was echoed by another who noted that when it came to Trump’s VP running mate,...

Disney is investigating a hack of the entertainment company’s internal Slack channels.
A hacker group called Nullbulge claims to have obtained and leaked more than 1 terabyte of data from Disney’s internal Slack channels.
The “hacktivist” group claims to focus on “protecting artists’ rights and ensuring fair compensation for their work.” It shared screenshots of documents the group allegedly downloaded, posting to X about traffic and revenue data for Disneyland Paris and what seems to be a new streaming feature that would recommend Disney content based on what viewers previously watched, with a promise to dump the entire haul online.

This is a big year for Julio Torres. The former “Saturday Night Live” writer (remember Ryan Gosling’s “Papyrus” sketch?) and “Los Espookys” co-creator stepped into the role of director and lead actor with his 2024 feature film debut, A24’s “Problemista.” His second comedy series for HBO, “Fantasmas” concluded its six-episode Season 1 last weekend.
Both projects are semi-autobiographical but represent two very different sides of its creator/star. When Torres was on the IndieWire Toolkit podcast, he explained that if his Alejandro character in “Problemista” captured his wide-eyed optimism as someone who emigrated from El Salvador, his turn as Julio in “Fantasmas” reveals his far more jaded side.
“‘Fantasmas,’ even though it remains joyful, it’s frustrated,” said Torres of the colorful, playful and surreal comedy series. “It feels like a sequel to [‘Problemista’], with achieving the quote-unquote ‘Dream.’ The idea of looking around you, even if you’re doing okay,...

Amen to this: Grey’s Anatomy, TVLine hears, is adding to its hospital roster a new chaplain, one who is not only a superhero fanboy but openly gay and slated to recur throughout Season 21.

The timing of the imminent hire is curious, though, as it was just a couple of months ago that we learned that Jake Borelli, the fan favorite who plays gay doc Levi, and Midori Francis, the scene stealer who plays bi doc Mika, would both be returning next season only for long enough to wrap up their characters’ storylines.

Jon Stewart and The Daily Show were going to be reporting live from the Republic National Convention this week, with shows planned for Monday, July 15 through Thursday, July 18, but that all changed as a result of the fatal political violence that unfolded over the weekend at Donald Trump’s Pennsylvania rally. “The Daily Show will not broadcast Monday (tomorrow) but we’ll be back up Tuesday through Thursday from our NYC studio,” reads the message shared on social media on July 14. “Our apologies for the inconvenience, but due to logistical issues and the evolving situation in Milwaukee, we need to reschedule our events on the ground in Wisconsin and will look to make those up in the coming weeks.” The Republic National Convention is taking place two days after an assassination attempt at Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The Daily Show‘s announcement came one day after the shooting.

[Editor’s note: The following story contains some spoilers for Elin Hilderbrand’s novel “The Perfect Couple”]
It’s a beach read starring all of our favorite murder mystery staple actors — and it doesn’t get much better than that.
The upcoming Netflix series “The Perfect Couple” brings together alums from “Big Little Lies,” “Ripley,” and “The White Lotus” for yet another vacation gone awry. Nicole Kidman leads the novel adaptation, based on Elin Hilderbrand’s bestseller, as matriarch Greer Winbury whose son is getting married… only to find someone in the wedding party dead on the big day.
Jenna Lamia is the writer and showrunner, with Susanne Bier directing. Bier previously worked with Kidman in another novel adaptation “The Undoing” (2020), and also directed the series “The Night Manager” (2016) and “The First Lady” (2022), plus films “Brothers” (2004), “After the Wedding” (2006), “In a Better World” (2010), and “Bird Box” (2018).

Long before he’d become the vice presidential nominee on Donald Trump’s 2024 ticket, J.D. Vance was known for his bestselling 2016 memoir Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis. The book was written by Vance and centered on his troubled upbringing in rural Kentucky and was later the subject of a star-studded, albeit controversial, adaptation in 2020. Here’s what to remember about Hillbilly Elegy. Before he was the Night Agent, Gabriel Basso starred as J.D. Vance. Basso starred as the eventual senator in the adaptation of Hillbilly Elegy. I first got to know legendary sex guru Dr. Ruth Westheimer as an undergrad at Yale, where I took her seminar on “Personal Fulfillment and Intimacy in the American Family” in the spring of 2007. And although I learned a great deal about her primary area of expertise, some of her most memorable comments involved another passion of hers: music.

The “PBS News Hour” team had just arrived in Milwaukee on Saturday when the shooting at a Donald Trump rally took place, forcing the broadcast’s team to immediately switch gears. Speaking on Monday at the Television Critics Assn. press tour — from their hotel rooms at the Republican National Convention, via Zoom — “PBS News Hour” co-anchors Amna Nawaz and Geoff Bennett said they “jumped in and covered it like any other breaking news story.”
“This, of course, being one of the most consequential breaking news stories,” Nawaz said. “Not exactly the way we thought we’d be kicking off coverage here at the RNC.

Scott MacFarlane, the CBS News correspondent, wasn’t quite sure what was going on Saturday night. He was covering former President Donald Trump’s rally in western Pennsylvania when he heard noises that reminded him of firecrackers. They were gunshots.
Suddenly, MacFarlane realized he was in potential danger — and a nearby rival was trying to keep him safe.
“Rachel Scott pulled me down,” says MacFarlane, referring to the ABC News veteran. She “grabbed me by the arm, told me to get beneath the bleachers.” On Sunday morning, MacFarlane tells Variety, “I gave her a big hug.”

With all the problems going on throughout the world right now and even on our front door step, it feels at times indulgent or perhaps gauche to place the peril of Hollywood and the American entertainment industry on that list. It’s hard for people outside of the world of making film and television (or content as many would tell us to call it) to understand that the majority of the workforce behind this industry is not the uber-wealthy, but upper middle to working class like most others around the country. They’re technicians and craftspeople. Drivers and caterers. Even writers and actors, who took to the picket line last year to fight not for some exorbitant, unreasonable ask, but a livable wage, often surviving paycheck-to-paycheck. To understand and maybe even relate to the struggle they’re going through, the best metric to look at is one found in nearly everyone’s home nowadays: Streaming.

Join the Winburys and their closest friends on Summerland Beach on Friday evening to sip summer cocktails under white tents festooned with beach roses and Lucite chandeliers. Guests will enjoy Pemaquid oysters from Damariscotta River, Maine, and platters of lobster steamed in seaweed. It’s a clambake, after all.

You are cordially invited to a wine-soaked sex romp in the Italian countryside.
From creator and showrunner Kathleen Jordan — and loosely inspired by the iconic short story collection of the same name — soapy dark comedy The Decameron arrives on Netflix July 25.
The series examines the all-too-timely theme of class struggles in the season of a pandemic, as a cast of misfits tries to outlast the bubonic plague pandemic in 1348 Florence. The Decameron stars Tony Hale, Zosia Mamet, Saoirse Monica-Jackson, Tanya Reynolds, and more.
“When something like a plague comes along, the ground goes even,” said Hale. “It doesn’t matter. So what am I investing in? What relationships am I investing in? How am I treating people? That’s the stuff that matters.”
Read on for everything we know so far about the eight-episode series.
