PATENT LICENSING

DivX’s patent portfolio was developed by DivX engineers through years of innovation in video technology and includes fundamental inventions that make high-quality streaming possible, improving the overall media experience for end users.

  • Over 600 patents worldwide
  • Strategic patent licensing program began in 2019
  • Partners include leading technology companies, popular streaming service providers and more than 60% of the global smart TV market

How it all started

We have always been obsessed with making video better. The DivX Story begins with Jerome “Gej” Rota. Gej was passionate about video and believed everyone should be able to enjoy the videos they want, how, when and where they want. In 1999, digital video was a frustrating experience. But he believed it could, and should, be an amazing one. So began our journey of innovation.
