    The first Australians have been evacuated from New Caledonia after two air force flights managed to land at Noumea’s reopened airport on Tuesday, with French authorities to conduct further repatriation flights on Wednesday.

    One hundred and eight Australians and other tourists had faced uncertainty over when they would be able to return home after being stranded in the French Pacific territory after riots erupted last week.
