25 years after Kargil, has India really learnt from its mistakes?

As Pakistan continues to use non-state actors to hurt India, there’s not much evidence that our armed forces are well-equipped for a long and sustained war in case of another surprise attack

A quarter century has passed since the mountains of Kargil boomed with the sounds of war. The passage of time has not dimmed the memories of raw courage and valour displayed by the Indian Army’s young officers. The years that have rolled by have lessened the pain of the families who lost their sons in the rugged, remote and inhospitable terrain.
Kargil, Drass, Mushkoh and Batalik were mere names on maps till the media brought them into ordinary drawing rooms. Kargil was India’s first televised war.
