2Does WhatsApp have a service as well? If so, set the service to Manual - otherwise, you may want to use a Nirsoft or SysInternals program to view all Startup programs, as Task Manager doesn't show all of them (there's five startup locations, all/each user Startup folder startup, all/each user Registry startup, and Services set to Automatic or Automatic (Delayed Start))– JW0914Commented Sep 13, 2023 at 15:31

Agreed. I use SysInternals Autoruns for this– anonCommented Sep 13, 2023 at 15:36

@JW0914 Thanks for the reply. Nope there is no service running for it whatsapp on in the task manager. Only the process. I have Sysinternals Autoruns but in it there is no entry for whatsapp.– usefulmellowCommented Sep 13, 2023 at 16:06

It isn't clear to me if you have disabled its startup in the WhatsApp setting (three dots menu) "Start WhatsApp at Login".– Andrew MortonCommented Sep 13, 2023 at 16:29

1Is it actually running though? Windows likes to “warm up” UWP applications by starting the process, then suspending it. This isn’t related to autostart. (WhatsApp is a true UWP application.)– Daniel BCommented Oct 10, 2023 at 9:10

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. windows-7), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
