I'm sorry I overread that, you are right. Then the only plausible answer is the folder path, I would strongly recommend checking the length and symbols inside the path. In addition its necessary to mention that after the reset nothing should be setup and only the indexing should be tested, since a reset and then installing everything can end up with the same problem. (If for example an defective application is crashing the indexing). Thank you for your suggestion I corrected my answer above.– MarkusCommented May 11, 2016 at 13:13

1Thanks Markus. New user profile didn't work. Windows reset I have tried already. The first thing I did after reset was to check if the indexing worked. It did not. I have given SYSTEM "full control" of all the folders in the whole folder path. I have checked the length of every path with "Path Length Checker.exe". The longest file paths are 250 characters. So I tried indexing only folders with shorter file path, but this did not work either. I am speechless...– AreteCommented May 11, 2016 at 15:38

Another idea: Check the eventlog. (Start -> run-> "eventvwr") For diagnostic reasons you may want to clear the Application and System log beforehand, then restart the PC and work through the eventlogs / errors appearing.– MarkusCommented May 11, 2016 at 19:17

How to Tag
A tag is a keyword or label that categorizes your question with other, similar questions. Choose one or more (up to 5) tags that will help answerers to find and interpret your question.
- complete the sentence: my question is about...
- use tags that describe things or concepts that are essential, not incidental to your question
- favor using existing popular tags
- read the descriptions that appear below the tag
If your question is primarily about a topic for which you can't find a tag:
- combine multiple words into single-words with hyphens (e.g. windows-7), up to a maximum of 35 characters
- creating new tags is a privilege; if you can't yet create a tag you need, then post this question without it, then ask the community to create it for you
