EUGENE, Ore. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team closed out the 2024 season at the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Saturday (June 8), with three podium finishes, two school records and one national record highlighting the day. The Wolverines finished tied with Colorado State for 18th place with 15 points.

Savannah Sutherland finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a personal best time of 53.26, improving upon her record-setting performance in the semifinals (54.04) to set the Canadian and U-M standards for the second time in three days. The Borden, Saskatchewan, native finished just 0.09 seconds behind the winner, USC's Jasmine Jones.

In the discus throw, Corinne Jemison capped her impressive career with a fifth-place finish and a personal-best mark of 60.07m (197 feet, 1 inch). She started off with a throw of 57.20m (197-1) on her first attempt before setting a new personal best of 58.73m (192-8) on the second throw. The graduate student topped the new personal best on her third attempt, breaking the program best she set earlier this year (58.19m, 190-11).

In the 100-meter hurdles, Aasia Laurencin placed sixth with a time of 12.86 seconds. She was just 0.01 seconds behind the fifth-place finisher and improved upon her 2023 Outdoor Championship finish of seventh place.

Sutherland, Jemison and Laurencin each earned first team All-America honors for their performances.

Riley Ammenhauser was the final Wolverine to compete, finishing 18th in the triple jump with a mark of 12.90m (42-4).

U-M will look to international competition next, with select members of the team to continue their individual campaigns at their respective senior level and U20 national championships.
