The Locket (1946)
Interesting gimmick but leaves with some unanswered questions
(1946) The Locket
PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER DRAMA
It opens with a couple getting ready to get married, by the name of Nancy (Laraine Day) and John Willis (Gene Raymond). And by the time John was getting ready with the nuptials, he was then informed by the butler someone was waiting to talk to him at his office. It is then he meets. Dr. Harry Blair (Brian Aherne) who claims he was Nancy's husband. And of course, this catches John a complete surprise and tests him how well he knows her. And when he answers the questions correctly, he then decides to let D. Harry Blair tell his story who was not the first person Nancy had been seeing. Her first love interest was an art teacher, Clyde (Robert Mitchum) and as the movie is progressing, it turned out she has a small problem. The problem existed may have stemmed when she was a young child.
Interesting gimmick of a story on top of another story to which is the gimmick is more interesting than structure of the story itself in which the ending is too much of a coincidence.
Ossos (1997)
If I had to read other interprentations about what the movie is about would not make the grade
(1997) Ossos/ Bones
(In Portuguese with English subtitles)
DRAMA/ SOCIAL COMMENTARY
Produced, written and directed by Pedro Costa, the first of three "Fontainhas" trilogy that centers on two adult sisters of Clotilde (Vanda Duarte) who has a daughter, Maura of her own, who at times lives with her sister, Tina (Mariya Lipkina) who has suicidal tendencies both sometimes cook or work as cleaning ladies. Tina unwillingly gives up her baby to her deadbeat and struggling father, (Nuno Vaz). The father eventually comes across a kind nurse, Eduarda Gomes (Isabel Ruth) who eventually helps the father and the mother Tina with her salary.
Expressionless and emotionless movie that is reminiscent to Carl Theodor Dreyer and Theodoros Angelopoulos to Aki Kaurismäki to name a few.
The Revengers (1972)
A combination of many films
(1972) The Revengers
WESTERN
Rancher, John Benedict (William Holden) entire family massacred by Comancheroes stealing his horses and he seeks retribution to the person Tarp (Warren Vanders). He does by attending to a Mexican prison camp, and employs the services of some unflattering possible killers and outlaws who broke the law but at the same time good at what they do. He does this with the help of an interpreter, Cholo (Jorge Martinez de Hoyos) and his knowledge of who's who. An African American, Job (Woody Strode); a climber, Quiberon (Roger Hanin); a German, Zweig (Rene Koldehoff); an assassin named El Chamaco (Jorge Luke) an American who knows John Benedict is looking for, by the name of William P Hoop or Bill for short played by Ernest Borgnine third movie both starred together.
Reminiscent to "The Magnificent Seven", and "The Dirty Dozen" to "The Comancheroes" with an unexpected ending.
Las viboras cambian de piel (1974)
Already forgot about watching this
(1974) Guns and Guts/ Las viboras cambian de piel
DUBBED
SPAGHETTI WESTERN
Co-produced and directed by René Cardona Jr. That consists of two bearded men (Pedro Armendáriz Jr. And Rogelio Guerra) beating up some men and after the same man. And along the way they would soon come across a playboy (Jorge Rivero) who has a way with the ladies, and after a misunderstanding he eventually tags along. And by the time all three reaches to the next town, it turned out he also happens to be a professional hired gunman. It turned out that man the two bearded men were after happens to be a sheriff or authority figure of another town of town's prison.
"Guns and Guts" consists of remnants of "For A Few Dollars More" with the ending that is reminiscent of "The Dirty Dozen". There is like a single full frontal nude scene moment, and it was part of the failed comedic routine. And the revelation is that one single person the bearded men wanted to kill, one of them is related to him while the other was double crossed. Another movie quickie fail with not much to show for it.
Io monaca... per tre carogne e sette peccatrici (1972)
Somewhat watchable but inconsistent sleaze
(1972) The Big Bust-Out/ Io monaca... per tre carogne e sette peccatrici
DUBBED
Italian sleaze movie to which the dubbed American version is 20 minutes shorter, the version I saw had a running time of 1hour and 10 minutes.
Upon reading the synopsis, it says 7 different women escaped, but it is like upon watching it, it was sometimes 7 and sometimes 8 different women who managed to escape- first away from authorities/ prison, and then from a human trafficker named Bob. Co-written and directed by Richard Jackson aka Ernst Ritter von Theumer that opens with a group of women selected from a middle eastern and Arabian women's prison to help and aid a nun, Sister Maria (Monica Teuber). And while the army was there, some of the guards take advantage of the situation by attempting to assault some of the women. It was at that point, they would then steal their weapons and escape to a human trafficker, )Bob (William Berger). And while the women are bathing naked in the gigantic bath pool, they are then taken hostage before they manage to escape again. And this time, the escaped women manage to be helped and supported by an idealist, Jeff Robinson (Tony Kendall). To which he promises them to lead them across the border, and during their journey he builds the most rapport with a young escapee, Inga (Nuccia Cardinali).
As I had mentioned earlier, some parts of the movie is inconsistent where, there were scenes where there were 7 different women escaping and then their were other times there were eight. Other examples, is when some of the women were heavily armed and then the next thing we know only one of them had a machine gun on them. And although their is plenty of nudity, it was non erotic nor did I think the women were attractive. The ending was one of the most inconsistent where viewers are given the presumption Bob was just after the money and then went nuts! Go figure!
No Questions Asked (1951)
Fascinating way to look at insurance
(1951) No Questions Asked
CRIME DRAMA
Steve Keiver (Barry Sullivan) is a popular insurance salesman, and as soon as it was revealed that the insurance company would have saved a lot of money had they made an offer to the thieves themselves a specific amount of money to get the items back as opposed to paying the victims. The insurance company would be saving a lot of money with Steve himself acting as a middle man making an offer of "No questions asked!" hence the title! At the same time, he also has a problem with his love life between a former flame, Ellen Sayburn (Arlene Dahl) who married for money as opposed to the associate, Joan Brenson (Jean Hagen) who was in love with him.
The Woman on Pier 13 (1949)
Outdated and boring
(1949) The Woman on Pier 13/ I Married a Communist
THRILLER/ POLITICAL
Because the movie was so outdated, I was unable to grasp on the concept about what would make someone an Communist and what doesn't. Both the set up and the approach is reminiscent to the much superior Eliza Kazan's "On the Waterfront" made on 1954.
Brad Collins (Robert Ryan) and Nan Collins (Laraine Day) had just arrived married, until a magazine photographer, Christine Norman (Janis Carter) shows up and imposes her own intentions and business into the affairs of Brad. We find out both Brad and Christine used to be a couple, and that part of the reason he got the job in the first place as President of the union executive for a cargo ship comp. Was because it was set up the "Members of the Un-American Activity". And that Brad Collins actual name was Frank Johnson, a guy by the name of Vanning (Thomas Gomez) shows up claiming he was from the committee making some demands since Brad is union President with his friend, Jim Travis (Richard Rober) as vice president. Vanning then sends one of his goons, Bailey (William Talman) to fetch Brad just so he can inform him he was deducting a portion of his check to the party itself, as well as tell him that they can also pin a murder rap on him.
One of the things that makes this movie boring is the fact, viewers do not know what the demands the so-called Communist group want Christine and Brad to do! Was it for money or union derailment!
Midnight Run (1988)
Just as entertaining as Get Shorty
(1988) Midnight Run
COMEDY ACTION
Produced and directed by Martin Brest has bounty hunter, Jack Walsh (Robert DeNiro) agreed from his bondsman an assignment to find, locate and return him back to LA a possible witness, Jonathan Mardukas (Charles Grodin) also nicknamed "The Duke" we find out he is so sought after since he is a potential witness for the mob! The mob is after "The Duke" because he happen to have stolen money from a known mobster, Jimmy Serrano (Dennis Farina). Jack the bounty hunter would do it, but he'd do it for a $100,000, except that he first have to fund out where he is located and then bring him back to LA. It turns out he was living in NYC, but Jack has to go through so many hurdles such as the FBI led by Alonzo Mosely (Yaphet Kotto) , his rival and competitor, Marvin Dorfler (John Ashton) and the mobster.
The second or third time I had seen this, and it is quite entertaining reminiscent to "Get Shorty" because it involves several different characters, some much more amusing than others. Both Robert DeNiro and Charles Grodin have great chemistry.
Save Me (1994)
Alter ego of Basic Instinct
(1994) Save Me
ADULT THRILLER/ MYSTERY
After the success of Basic Instinct. Release one year prior to this one, other companies came out that possess a similar theme.
It centers on businessman and separated, Jim Stevens (Harry Hamlin) entering into a boutique, when as soon as he spots Ellie (Lysette Anthony) wearing a piece of lingerie, he begins to notice her. When her spouse, Oliver (Michael Ironside) shows up and when Jim leaves, Elie and Oliver then leave soon after. But not when Ellie leaves a sticky note behind for him to look at! And upon looking at the footnote, it says "Save me!" hence the title with her phone number written on it for him to call her. We find out Oliver is a professional and licensed shrink and he tries to convince him to not to believe everything she is telling him.
When I first saw this movie, I was a horny little teenager and did not pay too close attention to the movie and set up itself. But after re-watching it again after many years later, the movie is not half as bad, considering it is a little predictable with some twists.
The Others (2001)
A cross between "The Innocents" and "The Sixth Sense"
(2001) The Others
HORROR
Music, written and directed by Alejandro Amenábar that has a Governess and mother, Grace (Nicole Kidman) looking after her two children, Anne (Alakina Mann) and Nicolas (James Bentley) employing the services of a maid/ housekeeper, Mrs. Bertha Mills (Fionnula Flanagan) and gardener, Edmund Tuttle (Eric Sykes), and a mute girl named Lydia, (Elaine Cassidy) arrive. Each of them were given instructions not to let them have access to sunlight. When things end up being misplaced or moved around, to the mute girl conversing with her children is when grace start to get paranoid thoughts.
Hard Kill (2020)
Another quickie made movie with Bruce Willis name tagged on it
(2020) Hard Kill
ACTION
The set up has a young lady handing a device to someone before she is then held hostage against her will. We then see some flashbacks of Derek Miller (Jesse Metcalfe) the gulf war before he wakes up to attend to an appointment to see Dayton Chalmers (Bruce Willis) inside of a limousine, recommended by a former op, Nicolas Fox (Texas Battle). Derek would agree to accept the mission of retrieving a server and to seek retribution to guy who shot him in the back nicknamed "The Pardoner"(Sergio Rizzuto), presuming he is allowed to assemble his own team. He then goes to a bar and happens to see his entire team he had been looking for and also employs the services of Dash Hawkins (Swen Temmel),Sasha Zendel (Natalie Eva Marie), and Harrison (Jon Galanis) we find out later also happens to be Sasha's brother.
And the by the time they all show up at an abandoned factory, we then find out they were being set up and used as bait for a saving situation and to retrieve the gizmo called Project 725. The Pardner needs Dayton Chalmers because he has no idea how to deactivate the server without the access code and attempted to use his daughter, Eva Chalmers (Lala Kent) as a tool to get what he wants.
The movie drags as it continues to which some of the times they are ace shooters while at others they are not. And there are also some scenes when paint balls are used instead. What makes this movie watchable is Bruce Willis's presence which is not saying much.
A Day to Die (2022)
It is only the fourth act the studio looked like it ran out of money
(2022) A Day To Die
ACTION THRILLER
I do not hate this movie as much as the others, for it was involving until it got near the end and then it worsened after that! Bad acting does not bother me nor does the story line but the direction of that story is geared toward.
The set up regards a group of special ops being double crossed regarding a saving situation. That resulted to splitting the team up and each doing their own thing with Conner Connolly (Kevin Dillon) as a police officer when his parolee was on the run from a drug gangster, Tyrone Pettis (Leon). And just when one of his goons corners Conner's parolee, Conner is then forced to shoot him dead. But because the goon Conner killed was kind of an important person, Pettis felt he owed him as a result.
White Elephant (2022)
Nothing new but good enough
(2022) White Elephant
ACTION THRILLER
Co-written and directed by Jesse V. Johnson that has criminal gangster, Arnold Solomon (Bruce Willis) who uses being a real estate developer as a front to get rid of a former rival gang. He does this by using a professional hit man, Carlos Garcia (Vadhir Derbez) who is Gabriel Tancredi (Michael Rooker) protege. And when Carlos completes his task, he is then being tailed by two detectives, Vanessa Flynn (Olga Kurylenko) and her partner, Walter Koschek (Michael Rose). And just as Vanessa gets out of her car, she is then nearly hit by a nearby explosion. Because Vanessa is a witness who can identify Carlos, she then becomes the number one target that also includes dirty cops. Leading to the unlikely pairing between Gabriel and Vanessa regarding a white elephant pendent- hence the title.
The Vigilante (2023)
Lazy piece of filmmaking
(2023) The Vigilante
THRILLER ACTION
Misleading title to which if one were to look at it one might assume it is an action movie, but it is like as soon as it's watched the action does not happen until after the 40 minute mark and all it is just a few fights.
It opens with her SUV getting rear ended with the lead star, Jessica Carson (Jet Jandreau) ended up in the hospital. It is during then the movie goes on a 40 minute introduction showcasing her as a special forces employed in Afghanistan, and shooting a young girl strapped with explosives and running toward her squadron unit. And because she was a part of that explosion, it deployed her services that means more time with her actual daughter, 13 year old Aimee Carson (Jamie M Timmons). Except that apparently, because Aimee is part of social media, human trafficking goons thought it might be a good idea to kidnap her for their human trafficking ring. And by the time Jessica comes through, and after meeting with the detective, Detective Tom Mason (Paul Bond) assigned to the case, it turned out he was worthless, hinting to her her daughter may have been abducted. And instead of staying home waiting for results, Jessica then seeks help for her tech friend, Dan Benson(Eric Pierce) who she used to served with, and a prostitute on the streets.
The only thing this movie was doing was attempting to capitalize on the success of another human trafficking movie released earlier during the same year called "Sound of Freedom", with action scenes that do not make a whole lot of sense.
Hornets' Nest (1970)
Unpredictable and optimistic war film with a superficial conclusion
(1970) Hornets' Nest
WAR
Although the movie is not base on fact, this movie experience is still an involving one to the same degree as other fictional war movies such as "Where Eagles Dare", "The Bridge on the River Kwai", "The Guns of Navarone" and "The Dirty Dozen" to name a few.
The opening has families of the young boys looking out hiding behind the bushes while the SS were lining them across the road, before Captain Friedrich Von Hect (Sergio Fantoni) asks them where "The Partisans" are! And when nobody would not give him an answer, they are then gunned down while the young boys look on helplessly, motivating them to seek for a little retribution. We are then introduced to Turner (Rock Hudson) and his recruits, and just as they are parachuting off from a plane and coming down, they are then met with SS men shooting at the resistance fighters as they are coming out of the bushes and killing all of the parachuter's except for one, who happens to be Turner played by Rock Hudson. And because one of the resistance fighters double crossed them, he was immediately shot and killed. And while Turner was hanging on a tree, the boys then manage to reach to him first, cut him down and hid him inside of a cave. The boys leader, Aldo (Mark Colleano) then goes back down to the village, only so he can fetch a doctor as none of them know whether he was hit or not. And it is not long before Aldo suspects he too may be double crossed as well, as he manages to escape before he was being seen. After barely escaping, he then managed to use one of the boys to convince a female doctor (Sylva Koscina) who was actually a surgeon to come with them. They hold her hostage calling Turner, Soldier and calling her Fraulein. We then find out he is heavily bruised, and she does eventually treat him. We later find out that the resistance boys kept "Soldier" alive because they want him to train them how to use a machine gun, while his objective was to blow up a particular dam. We then find out that besides showing them how to shoot, they also wanted Soldier to guide them to get back at some of the SS who gunned down their families. We also find out that this a group of about 15 boys who are taking on two tasks.
While I was watching this, I had my own assumptions how it was going to be ended, but was quite relieved that my presumptions were not the way that it happened.
All the Devil's Men (2018)
Kind of lame and predicable if one had not seen enough of these type of movies
(2018) All The Devil's Men
ACTION THRILLER
Written and directed by Mathew Hope that has a professional assassin, Jackie Collins (Milo Gibson) succeeding into exterminating someone by using a little technology know how. He is then taken away from a private plane only to be greeted by CIA intel messenger, Leigh (Sylvia Hoeks). And upon coming on board, he is then issued to work with two other men, Mike Brennan (William Fichtner) and Pete Samuelson (Gbenga Akinnagbe) with the assignment is to execute a dangerous gun runner, intel and terrorist, Faroq Hussen. Except that one of the ways to get to him is by according to Jackie Collins is by negotiating with one of his contacts, Tony Deighton (Joseph Millson) a former SEAL Jackie had once saved his life and presumed he would go and agree to it. And then it is just one double cross after the next with unsatisfying results.
Judex (1963)
Boring and tame
(1965) Judex
In French with English subtitles)
ADVENTURE/ MYSTERY
Mysterious folk lore hero in the same realm as Robin hood that is quite boring. Channing Pollock stars as the hero Judex alias Vallières who somewhat becomes involve with a wealthy heiress, Jacqueline Favraux (Edith Scob) with Diana Monti/ Marie Verdier (Francine Bergé) leading two other conspirators, to murder her and to steal her vast fortune. With chances opportunities that appear to be fumbled each and every time.
Some of the things that bother me is when police are involved they never appear to have any back up until the very end or that they never have enough police involve.
Si muero antes de despertar (1952)
Familiar rings to "M" and "The Window" from 1949
(1952) If I Should Die Before I Wake/ Si muero antes de despertar
(In Spanish with English subtitles)
THRILLER
Adapted from the short story by William Irish aka Cornell Woolrich it centers on a young boy, Lucho/ Luis Santana (Néstor Zavarce) interacting and bonding with the little girl student sitting on front of him. Started as soon as he purposely dipping her ponytail into an ink jar, we find out her name is Alicia Miranda (Marta Quintela). On the very next day, Luis then notices Alicia eating some sweets and wanted to have some as well. And before she hands him some, she then makes him swear to never reveal to anyone who she got it from. And then on the day after that, she then ends up missing. Detectives then go to the class to ask for any leads, except that Luis had remembered what he had promised, as he may have remembered the man who was hanging around in the school yard, and may have seen Alicia walk away with him. He then tries to make sense of it from his father, (Floren Delbene) who happens to be an inspector. And on the following day, he then bonds with the next student, Julia (Maria A. Troncoso) who coincidentally happen to also see the same man.
Although, this movie could be the base from "The Window" from 1949, it also has familiar rings to another movie called "M" from 1931 directed by Fritz Lang.
No abras nunca esa puerta (1952)
Somewhat interesting Cornell Woolrich interpretations under the name of William Irish
(1952) Never Open That Door./ No abras nunca esa puerta.
(In Spanish with English subtitles)
THRILLER
Three movies adapted from the stories by Cornell Woolrich under the pseudom name William Irish divided into two different movies. "Never Open That Door" contains two of those stories. The first story is "Somebody on the Phone"/ "Alguien al teléfono" that has adult brother, Raúl Valdez (Ángel Magaña) in charge of the family business. He is with his sister, Luisa Valdez at a celebration/ party and we then see his sister attempting to hock her ring, we later find out belonged to their mother. However, by the time she gets home the brother soon then shows up and as soon as he hears the phone, he answers it but with no answer. Later, the phone rings again but this time she waits until it five times before it stops, and then rings once more before she answers it. The brother then asks her who was on the phone, she convinces him it was nobody before he goes to the bank to withdraw money to pay off the workers. And to his surprise, there is no more money into the family account, and has more than overdrawn it. Motivating him to rush back home and confront his sister about it,, it was soon revealed she has a gambling addiction. One thing leads to another.
I'd give this 2.5 out of four as although this was one of the first films about gambling addiction, it is just a common theme whereas I was a little curious despite their privileged lives, how come being as attractive as the brother and sister are, how come they are still single.
The second movie "Hummingbird Comes Home"/ "El pájaro cantor vuelve al hogar" is a little more involving that opens with a bank robbery and one of the three happened to be shot while attempting to escape on their getaway car. Meanwhile, we are then introduced to a mother, Rosa (Ilde Pirovano) who happens to be blind living with her niece, Maria (Norma Giménez). And during her wondering around the household, she often gripes how her son is going to show up one of these days on her doorstep and make her proud. And then some time later we hear a knock on the door, with the niece opening the door, two men barge through the door carrying with them the injured third person, making viewers to realize that they are the same people who had just held up a bank. And that the son, Daniel (Roberto Escalada) may also be the ringleader. The movie ends with a small twist.
This one is a little more resonating with the twist at the end makes viewers asking questions later. I'd give this a slight edge over the first movie even though more could have done with it. 3 out of 4.
Es esmu seit (2016)
Somewhat curious drama scenario
(2016) Mellow Mud/ Es esmu seit
(In Latvian with English subtitles)
DRAMA
Written and directed by Renars Vimba that opens with 17year old, Raya (Elina Vaska) walking to school with her 12 year old younger brother, Robis (Andzejs Lilientals) to school. And by the time she comes home, she would then begin arguing with her grandmother, (Ruta Birgere) after finding out she is planning to sell household. And it was not until the following morning, the grandmother was then discovered emotionless. And just as Raya was considering on calling the ambulance, she then realizes if she did do that, that both her and her younger would then be broken up and possibly be put into foster homes. And just like what any teenager would, she would then decide to have the grandmother buried instead, and just pretend to others who ask about it that she is confined into the house, particularly the absent mother, Daina (Zane Jancevska). And it was during then she exploits the situation a little by rummaging through the grandmother's things and when money is discovered, they immediately go grocery shopping. And when both go to school, she then manages to convince both the principle and the English teacher, Oskar (Edgars Samitis) she may be the best contestant to enter into a writing contest. And it is one thing that leads to another for it is just a matter of time before authorities are going to find out.
Some of the good things about the movie is that we get a glimpse about the customs of Latvia and how they operate, such as when social service worker arrives to the house to hand over the monthly payment, the daughter signs for it, before he hands the money onto her. The baffling scenes are the supposed absent mother who sometimes arrives when she is supposed to be somewhat neglectful, only for the daughter to travel to London, England to fetch the mother. I mean, if the mother is supposed to be an absent mother, it has a funny way to show it.
Assassins Run (2013)
False advertising with misleading movie title
(2013) Assassin's Run
CRIME THRILLER
Misleading poster, misleading genre that may have been result of budget cuts. You look at the poster, presuming the star Christian Slater and the other guy standing next to him are going after some bad guys, and then when you watch it, it is nothing more what one can see on the poster. Anyways, because I had seen so many movies before this, even after using the fast forward button on some scenes, I was still be able to determine what happened as the movie itself is full of double crosses and double dealings.
The set up has subliminal images of a woman tortured and so forth during the credits, and then that same women is now being questioned by a police officer, and she begins by telling him a story. It is during then we are then see a wife, Maya (Sofya Skya) performing on a stage while daughter, Nina look on while her husband, an American oil tycoon in Russia, Michael Mason (Christian Slater) is missing his wife's ballet performance while stuck in a traffic jam. While waiting he is then receives a threatening phone call about his oil fortune and he chooses to ignore it.
Agnieszka (2014)
Exceptional enough
(2014) Agnieszka
(In Polish with English subtitles)
PSYCHOLOGICAL DRAMA
Written and directed by Tomasz Emil Rudzik that has Agnieszka (Karolina Gorczyca) just let out of prison, and the first person she sees is her young brother, Raphael (Rafal Garnecki) wanting to gather her clothes and some spending money before she heads toward her next destination which happens to be Poland. Her younger brother initially want to come with her, except that she barely has any money and after a scuffle with her criminal boyfriend, forced her to go on the run. And it is not long before she stumbles on to a lady who calls herself, Madame (Hildegard Schmahl) who owns a little bar but also happens to make a percentage of her money from managing an escort service.
Deadlock (1970)
The movie asks more questions than it answers
(1970( Deadlock
DUBBED
PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER
Produced, written and directed by Roland Klick that has a man nicknamed as Kid (Marquard Bohm) attempting to cross through the desert with briefcase. And by the time he plops to the sandy desert. He is then discovered by a driver, Charles Dump (Mario Adorf) who at first was thinking about killing him but in some weird circumstance, he ends up saving his life by pulling the bullet that was stuck inside his shoulder. He does this by driving to a somewhat deserted small mining town who lives with a crazy girl, Jesse (Mascha Rabben) he sometimes calls her as his daughter and an crazy overweight lady, Corina (Betty Segal). And the Kid warns Charles about a guy expected to show up, his nickname is Sunshine (Anthony Dawson) as the somewhat deserted mining area was supposed to be their meeting place.
The movie was supposed to be in German but is dubbed into English and called "Deadlock" and by watching it, it is reminiscent to better movies made before it from "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" and Point Blank and others.
Some of the existing problems with this is the fact that both Charles Dump and the Kid had opportunities to take advantage of the situations and both did not! Such as Charles Dump had the opportunity to just continue on driving as well as ignore the Kid at the opening and he did not. The Kid had the opportunity to have a gun battle with Sunshine and he did not. All this is asinine if you ask me.
Das Haus (2021)
Familiar ground and idea done on older films.
(2021) The House/ Das Haus
(In German with English subtitles)
SCIENCE FICTION POLITICAL THRILLER
Adapted from the short story by Dirk Kurbjuweit, co-written and directed by Rick Ostermann that has husband, Johann Hellström (Tobias Moretti) and his wife,
Lucia Hellström (Valery Tscheplanowa) just arriving to their home located at an isolated island, And what is unique about the home is that it does things by command, simply by talking to it, in the same tradition as HAL from "2001: A Space Odyssey". In the midst of all of this is some militia group clashing with the gov't in regarding of a terrorist act. And it is presumed that it was a young couple by the names of Layla (Lisa Vicari) and her boyfriend, Alex (Max von der Groeben) who committed the act, except that by the time they arrive they denied they even did any such thing.
A little of "Demon Seed", "2001 A Space Odyssey" and "Forbidden Planet" with no new surprises.
Comin' at Ya! (1981)
Blindman was better
(1981) Comin' At Ya!
SPAGHETTI WESTERN.
DUBBED
Some of the scenarios are similar to the previous film, "Blindman" both director Ferdinando Baldi and actor, Tony Anthony had done together from 1971. The difference with this movie is that the hero, H. H. Hart (Tony Anthony) are able to see this time as opposed to his character being blind in 1971! It has two criminal brothers of Pike Thompson (Gene Quintano) and Polk Thompson (Ricardo Palacios) kidnapping Hart's wife, Abilene (Victoria Abril) just as they were going to get married at the alter, seriously injuring the hero. She is taken and is intended to be sold for a human trafficking ring as they had also kidnapped many other women as well HH Hart goes after her using his preferred weapon of a 12 gauge shotgun the same weapon as he used on the Blindman back in 1971. He achieves to find his wife with the help of a kilted Scotsman who can drive a wagon.
