Bad bitmaps are being propogated

We are currently using the 2.7 release of picasso and after some investigation it appears that this issue has been addressed in a merged PR, but no release has ever been cut with that commit in it. Specifically, this is where it was fixed #2001 Also it appears that 2.8 was directly built off of 2.7 & this fix isn't there either.

Is there any current plan for officially releasing a version with this in it? I see a lot of activity this year from @jrodbx so is there a new release in the works? If there is what is the rough timeline? Late this year? Next year?
