Light Skin Tone
A pale skin tone modifier, which can be applied to a range of human emoji characters.
- Type 1 on the Fitzpatrick Scale of skin tones is described as: Pale white; blond or red hair; blue eyes; freckles
- Type 2 on the Fitzpatrick Scale of skin tones is described as: White; fair; blond or red hair; blue, green, or hazel eyes
This is a combination of type 1 (pale white) and type 2 (white). Despite the descriptions, Apple’s artwork tends to display this type-1-2 skin tone modifier with dark hair.
Light Skin Tone was approved as part of Unicode 8.0 in 2015 under the name "Emoji Modifier Fitzpatrick Type-1-2" and added to Emoji 1.0 in 2015.
