Celebrating new leadership
  • We welcomed Eddie Kato as President and Managing Director of our Japan office. Eddie has more than 35 years’ experience in the space industry and has worked extensively internationally. Most recently, he founded the consulting firm HISe, Inc. in Washington, D.C., and led the company for seven years as founder and president. He also worked for Thales Alenia Space, Orbital Sciences, Lockheed Martin, General Electric and Mitsubishi Electric in their space sectors.  
  • Andrew Faiola was onboarded as Commercial Director in our UK office and will be responsible for leading Astroscale Ltd.’s commercial sales, business development, and marketing activities. He has more than 20 years’ experience in commercial sales and market development roles with a focus on delivering connectivity and access to information to remote locations on land, air, and sea. 
  • New year, new leadership at Astroscale Israel! In January, Ofir Azriel, was named the new Managing Director, succeeding Arie Halsband, who retired and transitioned to a Senior Advisor.  
  • Astroscale U.S. appoints Jack Deasy as Vice President of Business Development and Advanced Systems. Jack has more than 25 years of experience in commercial business development and government relations. We are excited to have him on board! 
National Space Council UAG 

Ron Lopez, President and Managing Director of Astroscale U.S., was selected by the Office of Vice President Kamala Harris to Join National Space Council Users’ Advisory Group.  

“I am honored that Vice President Harris has selected me to serve on the National Space Council’s Users’ Advisory Group with such an esteemed group of peers,” said Lopez.

Feb. 9: Our COO, Chris Blackerby, will join a panel at "Space Exploration Investments: Turning Uncertainty into Measurable Risk and Benefits," a joint workshop among the George Washington University, Secure World Foundation, and the SDA Bocconi School of Management SEE Lab. Chris and other panelists will discuss “Experiences from space exploration investments,” starting at 11:45 am EST. Register here! Zoom participation is also available. 

Feb. 23: C21 NewSpace RoundTable is the follow on from the New Space Economy webinar we held late last year.  This event will focus on the geostationary satellite market. Ryan Reel from Astroscale U.S. will be on the panel joined by Beasley, Saturn Satellite, and more. Sign up to watch!

Kumar Singarajah, Director of Government & Regulatory Affairs at Astroscale UK & Europe, presented on ELSA-M and LEXI during the 9th CNES Workshop on Satellites End of Life and Sustainable Technologies. 

We were at Tokyo Big Sight in Japan for the International Space Industry Exhibition. Our ADRAS-J model and swag gathered a lot of attention from visitors. 

Ron Lopez, Managing Director of Astroscale U.S., attended the 18th annual Ilan Ramon Space Conference in Israel.  While there, Ron met with head of the Israel Space Agency to discuss collaboration with other nations, while leveraging Astroscale's global engineering footprint.
 
SmallSat Symposium is one of Silicon Valley’s most important knowledge and networking events, packed with the content needed to grow the space sector. Dr. Clare Martin from Astroscale U.S. joined the panel “Orbital Debris Removal and Mitigation: Situational Awareness, Mobility, Propulsion and Tugs.”

  • Via Satellite and Spacewatch.global picked up Andrew Faiola’s appointment as the Commercial Director for our U.K. and European subsidiary.   
  • Astroscale Japan held a press conference on our roadmap to 2030 and big projects to come in 2023. Multiple media attended, and here’s a piece from the Sankei News on how the company is approaching to the commercialization of its on-orbit services.
