We had a real Astroscale party at ASCEND this year. We had attendees from both ASUS and ASUK. Luc Riesbeck and Carolyn Belle spoke on panels. And it was a great opportunity to network and connect with others on the topic of space sustainability!
Astroscale represented well at the CONFERS Global Satellite Servicing Forum, Oct. 19-20, in Arlington, VA. The GSSF is the space sector’s premier in-space infrastructure and operations event — as a Sustaining Member of CONFERS, we were proud to have Chris Blackerby, Dave Hebert, Seita Iizuka, Laura Cummings, and Brett Silcox on the forum agenda.
At Space-Comm Expo in September, we spoke to many people interested in our technology and capability. Nick Shave, Astroscale Ltd. MD, chaired a popular panel on day two at the Keynote Theatre, 'Ensuring Safety and Sustainability of Space Activities'. He was joined by senior representatives from Slingshot Aerospace, Kayhan Space, Viasat UK, McKinsey & Company and D-Orbit and there were many questions from the audience. We held a fun-filled Scottish and Japanese single malt whisky tasting on our stand – we look forward to raising another glass soon!
We supported “Our Fragile Space,” a photography exhibition launched by Max Alexander at the iconic Lloyds Building in London. Our Senior Systems Engineers Rosie Linehan & Zoé Tenacci feature in this collection of breathtaking images. Astroscale's Zeus building and our business growth were mentioned during the Opening Speech of Ian Annett, Deputy CEO of Programme Delivery at UKSA. The exhibit will tour the UK and internationally supported by Lloyds of London, ESA, UKSA, Astroscale and other space sustainability partners. Find out more in ESA's article here.
Our very own Ryan Reel got to speak on a panel on Space Logistics: Creating a Sustainable Space Sector at APSCC. The space industry is undergoing rapid changes, including decreasing launch costs and fast-increasing launch cadence. This undeniably creates opportunities for new business models to flourish, though it also creates challenges around space debris, space sustainability, and maintaining an increasingly complex infrastructure in space.
Annual Technical Symposium (ATS) 2022 is a forum to help shape the future of the industry, a place for people in all stages of their career to gather, network, and collaborate. It is a place to learn a new process, gather inspiration, and make the connection to turn that inspiration into reality. We had many speakers from Astroscale at ATS this year. Carolyn Belle, Laura Cummings, and Krystal Scordo did a stellar job!
