shoreside inn 4 stars

Hotel in Shanklin

Situated in Shanklin, 60 metres from Shanklin Beach, shoreside inn features accommodation with free WiFi and free private parking. The breakfast is amazing! Very nice English breakfast included and extremely exceeded our expectations. The landlords are very friendly, kind and helpful. I highly appreciate the help from them for purchasing the period pad for my partner at night. My partner had period and did not prepare the pad. When we realized it, it was almost 10 pm and nearly all the stores were closed. The landlord drove me to the closest store to purchase it! I want to say a sincere thank you to them.

The Albion 4 stars

Hotel in Freshwater

Situated in Freshwater, 18 km from Blackgang Chine, The Albion features accommodation with a terrace, free private parking and a bar. We stayed three nights at the Albion to recover from an horrendous house move. It was the perfect stay for us. It has recently been refurbished and is tastefully decorated to give a calming vibe. Our room was so spacious with an enormous bathroom and its own terrace with sun loungers to relax and watch the waves roll in across the bay. The bed was exquisitely comfortable and after all the stress we’d had that week, we slept like logs. The breakfast was tasty, bountiful and varied. The full English beat my husband - a rare occurrence! Dinner was equally delicious. All the staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful and we will definitely return.

Wonders of Wordplay and Nature’s Way

With dramatic cliffs and unspoilt countryside, the Isle of Wight sits off England’s south coast. Ferries from Southampton cross The Solent to Cowes, a sleepy port which bursts into life during its annual regatta – Cowes Week.

Over the inlet is Osborne House, Queen Victoria’s summer home, while Henry VIII was behind the construction of the castle in Yarmouth. Neighbouring Freshwater is the closest town to the multi-coloured sands of Alum Bay. Next door are the Needles which you can’t thread, as the Wonders of the Isle of Wight saying goes. These eroded white cliff formations, one with a lighthouse, extend into the English Channel at the island’s south-western tip.

Near the southern tip is Chale, next to Blackgang Chine children’s amusement park, and close to Ventnor, on a hill sloping to the sea. Around the coast are the most popular beach resorts: Sandown with its nature reserve, and Shanklin with its cute Old Village and the most Isle of Wight hotels with indoor pools on Booking.com. Seaview also has a nature reserve, and nearby Ryde is a Victorian beach resort whose long pier is the docking point for ferries from Portsmouth.

Other hotels on the Isle of Wight are found in Wootton Bridge, with its steam railway, and the county town Newport, home to Carisbrooke Castle.
