Four Tartans Earn UAA Tennis Awards

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Four Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis players were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches on Thursday with recognition on the 2024 UAA Women's Tennis All-Association Team. Senior Danna Taylor and junior Sarah Yang are repeat awardees while junior Zoe Angell and sophomore Divya Venkatarama receive their first awards.

Taylor and Yang are both first-team members through singles play while Taylor also received first-team recognition in doubles with Angell. Venkatarama earned second-team accolades for her singles play.

Taylor has a 17-9 singles record this season while playing mostly second singles in dual matches. She'll be returning to the NCAA Singles Championship for the fourth time in her career. Taylor is a four-time All-UAA first-team singles selection who won the ITA Southeast Regional for the third time in her career during the fall.

Yang was named to the first team in singles play at number one singles for the third time. She was also invited to the NCAA Singles Championship for the third time and boasts a 16-4 singles mark with a 13-2 record at number one singles in dual matches.

Taylor and Angell finished the year with an 8-2 doubles mark, recording seven of those wins at number one doubles. Taylor's doubles honor is the fourth of her career.

Venkatarama led the team in singles victories with 22 and earned the UAA honor at third singles. The sophomore had an 11-2 record at third singles during dual matches and an overall mark of 22-6. She also played in the ITA Cup in the fall after finishing second at the ITA Southeast Regional to Taylor.
