After breach, senators ask why AT&T stores call records on “AI Data Cloud”

It's capitalism. Their best interest isn't the customer, it's the shareholder. "lowest cost" which means "higher profits" which means "happy shareholders" If the Senators legitimately cared about the consumer, they'd support tougher penalties against executives, not just the company as a whole...

Republicans fight plan to require low-cost broadband service for poor people

This. Some politicians continue to treat Broadband internet access a a "luxury." It's not and hasn't been for at least a decade. The pandemic proved that it's become a vital need for our economy and as a part of childhood education and basic adult life.

Judge says FTC lacks authority to issue rule banning noncompete agreements

I doubt it's coming only from this judge. IMO, these are marching orders coming down from conservative think tanks and other conservative groups. A conservative-majority SCOTUS was just one part of the plan. Getting conservative/"Friendly" federal judges in place was also part of a much bigger...

Why Americans aren’t buying more EVs

For everyday/weekly driving, an EV is a good option. Per Federal Highway Administration, the average American drives 273 miles per week. For most EVs that would mean 1-2 charges per week, which can likely be done over night. EVs are sufficient in practical terms. BUT the idea of hopping in the...

Wendy’s plans AI-powered menu to change food prices based on demand, weather

I can't remember the last time I had Wendy's, but ANY restaurant hiking prices during a meal rush is pretty dang crappy. It's bad enough a lot of places are doubling or even tripling the prices of drinks, essentially charging you for 1-2 refill(s) up front, but this is even worse.
