Free techno-horror shooter demo
AntiVirus is a free first-person shooter (FPS) for Windows from developer 20chan. The game is still in development, with a unique concept. In the game, you're alone in a laboratory defending your position from mysterious creatures that keep hurtling towards you.
However, this is no run-of-the-mill shoot 'em up game. You'll have to react quickly to blast the creatures away before they get to you. To make things even more difficult, you have a limited field of vision. If you're a fan of first-person shooters that involve more strategy, Ravenfield and Project IGI are both worth downloading.
Gameplay
In this game, you are the titular antivirus security, so you have to be the most reliable, rigorous protector of your systems. The gameplay is generic: you're standing in one place shooting onrushing enemies. However, the gameplay is done in a highly unusual way.

When you run the game, it opens in a small square window that you naturally try to expand. However, it can't be expanded, so it permanently displays on top of the other apps you have open on your PC. Of course, this means that you have an extremely small field of vision, making the game really challenging.
The virus-like creatures trying to kill you come at you from behind pillars or across the floor and the ceiling, so sometimes you don't see them until they're almost on top of you.
Controls
The controls for AntiVirus are simple. You move the mouse to point your gun and hit either the spacebar or the left mouse button to fire your weapon.
Graphics
The graphics of AntiVirus have been cleverly designed to create a detailed environment, while your enemies are more pixelated, giving them a vague outline that occasionally blends with the background. This is an excellent example of graphics making a game more difficult instead of simply being aesthetically pleasing.
Defeat the virus
We appreciate the thought that's gone into AntiVirus. Making you the powerful antivirus protection that’s literally fighting viruses is a clever concept.
Furthermore, we've never seen a game that only plays in such a small window. However, it works exceptionally well, conjuring up a sense of claustrophobia and increasing tension when you can't see the enemy until the last second. Even though this is a work in progress, it's already worth a download, and we can't wait to see how it evolves.
