The developer CuteU Team claims that the CuteU app is the only app that lets you video-match and chat simultaneously in real-time. All profiles are verified, which should ensure that fakes are identified and excluded. The app allows you to choose your preferred gender, so there’s no inherent bias towards certain types of matches.

CuteU seeks to do everything possible to facilitate matchups. If you’re unsure about what to say to your video match, you can send them an app-generated question to get the conversation started. Similar apps with video chat functionality include Whatsapp, Telegram and Discord.

It’s a real-time video matching app that matches users and lets them connect via chat and real-time video calls. The graphic style with red hearts suggests that this is purely a dating app. However, during setup, you’re asked what your friendship goals are. Not all the options are only romantic.

As long as you only download CuteU from a trustworthy source, it is safe from unwanted software being attached. Howeer, there’s no official website, so it’s not possible to know who’s behind the app. Therefore, it’s best not to make any in-app purchases.

According to the Play Store listing, it has more than five million downloads. As always with download counts, there’s nothing indicating how many active users there are, so it’s impossible to be sure how popular it truly is.

How do I use CuteU?

Once you’ve granted the required access, the login screen appears.

These are the steps that get you up and running with CuteU:

1. Log in with your Google account, or register an app account
2. Choose your gender
3. Accept the automatically generated nickname, or create your own
4. Select your date of birth
5. Choose your friendship goal
6. Click on the free matches window that appears, and the matching process will begin
7. Within a few seconds, your first automatically matched video chat with another user will open

It’s a great concept, and it works fine if you want to make a video match and chat with someone simultaneously. However, we can’t help being nervous about the developer’s lack of online presence, especially considering the availability of in-app purchases.

We’re also uncomfortable with the fact that during setup, we were able to indicate that we were less than eighteen and it went unchallenged. In conclusion, we recommend that you consider other options, including RealU and FancyU pro.
